Love the coopers

A somewhat unusual Christmas Carol.
The Cooper family, gathered for the customary Christmas Day, will face the past, present and future of their lives, which each keeps secret from the other family members. Like Sam and Charlotte, who don't feel like telling their children that they've decided to separate. Or Eleanor, who brings home a military man she just met and introduces him as her boyfriend. Not to mention Hank, who doesn't want to admit he's lost his job.
But can you really hide something from your family?
A Christmas comedy to be enjoyed.
On Apple TV.

Under Red Skies

by Karoline Kan, Legacy Lit, 2019

"The women in my family, the ones I'm also descended from, are like that: stubborn. They spurred me on to move forward resolute and fearless, just as they had to do to allow me to exist. They were born in times more difficult than mine. Society, the government, the very families of these women held no regard for their desires and aspirations, forcing them to fight against all kinds of cruel adversity to make something out of practically nothing."

A story of three generations of women that reaches all the way into the present, granting us a view of modern times anchored in the past.
From her point of view as a Chinese Millennial, Karoline tells us her story, that of her mother and grandmother, Chinese women under Chinese authoritarian politics: "I want to show the emotions, the choices and compromises, the courage and hope that we share with our peers around the world."
The individual story is intertwined with History in this autobiography, that alternates the freshness of youth (of the fashions to follow, of the first loves, of the discovery of alcohol... in short, that of each one of us) with the events of a country whose traditions and past are as fascinating as they are complicated.
